New music faculty for University of Portsmouth.
Repurposing of existing basement floor to create a new Faculty of Music for Portsmouth University.
Works included the construction of multiple recording studios and editing suites acoustically separated from surrounding uses.
A bespoke interior was created to house the technology within a faceted envelope to create the perfect acoustic environment.
The University of Portsmouth were granted funding to create an up to date facility for the Music Department.
D84 were engaged to produce feasibility drawings to investigate the potential for housing this facility in the basement areas of the Eldon Building and, working closely with the client representatives, progressed the project right through to the construction stage.
State of the art facilities, with a number of acoustically separated recording studios, have been recently completed and are now in use by the students.
