This January D84 architects is proud to celebrate its 13th year working in Hampshire, Surrey, London and West Sussex. An unlucky number for some, we are feeling this is going to be a good one.

Despite being a small practice, since 2010 we have delivered over 800 projects for our clients. These have ranged from simple loft conversions and kitchen extensions for homeowners, whole-house re-modelling to create dream homes, right up to our work for commercial clients such as Portsmouth University and many builders and property developers.

The thing we think makes us special is the friendly and professional service our clients receive plus, when it’s needed, honesty about what is and isn’t going to work. We are not a practice that will just tell clients what they want to hear, but instead will work through problems and develop options that can address these. We employed D84 to design a 3 storey extension for our semi-detached house and to remodel the interior.

Keith listened and discussed our requirements and, despite some challenges, produced a design that fully met with our specifications. The result was an attractive design, which highlighted the amazing views from the house, and fully utilised the available living space.

I asked practice Director Keith Russell what he felt most proud of about the company he set up 13 years ago. He said the fact that the practice had doubled in size during that time and was continuing to grow made him feel grateful he’d made the decision to step out on his own. Many small businesses don’t survive the first five year but D84 did, and also survived the pandemic despite business more or less grinding to a halt. He was equally proud of the relationships he’d developed with his clients over the years including many in our hometown of Portsmouth.
